DAY 1

THE OLD TOWN - CASTLE HILL

    Trynitarska Tower, which houses the Archiepiscopal Museum of Sacral Art; the tower also offers a splendid panorama of the Old Town, Castle Hill, City Centre and city outskirts.

    Krakowska Gate, housing the Museum of Lublin History; the Gothic Tower is adjacent to the Gate; both structures constitute elements of former city walls from the 14th century; the beginning of the Route of Architectural Monuments. ( www.zamek.lublin.pl )

    Visit at Lublin Centre of Tourist Information, located near the Krakowska Gate (ul. Jezuicka 1/3); where free information can be obtained as well as tourist publications and souvenirs can be purchased. ( www.loit.lublin.pl )

    Church and monastery complex of the Dominican Order, which is open for visitors ( www.dominikanie.lub.pl )

     Fara Square with reconstructed foundations of St. Michael's Church and a breathtaking panorama of Podwale, Podzamcze and the Lublin Castle.

    Grodzka Gate, seat of Centre - Theatre NN, where a model reconstruction of the pre-war Jewish district can be studied along with other traces of Jewish culture in Lublin.

     Czwartek Hill with St. Nicolas's church; excellent view spot with a panorama of the Old Town and Podzamcze.

     New Jewish Cemetery with the z the Memorial Chamber of Lublin Jews in Walecznych St.

     Building of the former Jewish School of Wisdom in Lublin in Unicka St.

Note: Return to the city centre near the Krakowska Gate and the Archiepiscopal See via no. 156 trolleybus from the terminus in Unicka St. or by foot along Lubartowska St. (approx. 2 km).

THE CITY CENTRE

     New City Hall in Łokietka St. - the seat of Lublin city authorities

    Holy Spirit Church

    Krakowskie Przedmieście - the Lublin Promenade; street of by 18th - 20th century buildings, elegant shops, restaurants and cafeterias

     Litewski Square with the Monument commemorating the Union of Lublin (beginning of the Multi- cultural Route)and three other monuments and statues; surrounded by the Gubernialny, Lubomirski and Czartoryski palaces.

    Further section of Krakowskie Przedmieście Street with eye-catching Art Nouveau houses

    Saski Park, established in mid 19th century - a beautiful oasis of green in the very centre of the city

    Old Cemetery in Lipowa St. with valuable tombstones from between 17th century and the modern day, divided into the following parts:
- Roman Catholic
- Orthodox
- Evangelical
- military sections from the Ist and IInd World Wars, including a section of Katyń Victims

     Old tenement houses from 19th and 20th century in Okopowa St.

     Shrine of Sorrowful Christ from 1767 in Hempla St.

     Our Victorious Lady's Church and post-Brigitte monastery in Narutowicza St.

     Juliusz Osterwa Theatre from 19th century in Narutowicza St.

    St. Peter's Conversion Church and post-Bernardinian monastery in Dolna Marii Panny St.

DAY 3

SITES AND BUILDINGS
IN THE CITY'S OUTSKIRTS

     National Museum of Majdanek - site of the former death camp where the German occupiers tortured and murdered approximately 250 thousand people from 26 European countries. ( www.majdanek.pl )

    Open Air Village Museum - one of the most interesting places in Lublin as well as the entire region; open in the summer season, located at the city exit in the direction of Warsaw , in Sławinek (www.skansen.lublin.pl )

     UMCS Botanical Garden - located in the picturesque loess valley of the Czechówka as well is in higher sections, in the vicinity of the city exit in the direction of Warsaw, open in the summer season ( www.garden.umcs.lublin.pl )

     Zemborzycki Artificial Lake - reservoir of approximately 230 ha, located in the Bystrzyca valley in the southern part of Lublin, between the roads to Bychawa and Krężnica Jara, an attractive location for recreation and sports with a leisure centre and the "Marina" campsite.
